1 Before You Enter தயாரிப்பு
Take Bath

Take a holy bath before visiting. If coming from far, use Amma Mandapam ghat.
Proper Dress

Men: Dhoti/Veshti preferred. Women: Saree/Churidar. No shorts, sleeveless, or revealing clothes.
Offerings

Rajagopuram (Main Entrance)
ராஜகோபுரம் • South Direction
Grandest entrance through the 72m tall Rajagopuram. Main entry for most visitors.
Queue Types: All queues available
Best For: First-time visitors, Photography lovers
East Gate (Kili Gopuram)
கிளி கோபுரம் • East Direction
Parrot (Kili) Gopuram entrance. Less crowded alternative.
Queue Types: Free darshan, Special darshan
Best For: Quick darshan, Less walking
West Gate
மேற்கு வாயில் • West Direction
Used mainly during festivals and special occasions.
Queue Types: Festival special
Best For: Festival days, Vaikunta Ekadasi
North Gate
வடக்கு வாயில் • North Direction
Nearest to Kaveri river. Used for Theertham rituals.

Best For: After river bath, Theertham seekers

Sri Periya Perumal (Moolavar)

Main Deity - Must Visit First
The main deity, Lord Ranganatha, reclines on Adisesha facing south with his head towards west. This is the largest reclining Vishnu idol in India, measuring about 6 meters. The Lord is in Yoga Nidra (divine sleep) posture.

Sri Ranganayaki Thayar
ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாயகி தாயார்
Divine Consort
The divine consort of Lord Ranganatha. She has a separate shrine with dedicated darshan timings. The goddess is also known as Sridevi and is worshipped for prosperity and grace.

Sri Namperumal (Utsavar)

Festival Deity (Utsavar)
The processional deity taken out during festivals. Also known as Azhagiya Manavalan (Beautiful Groom). During Vaikunta Ekadasi, Namperumal passes through the Paramapada Vasal.
Sri Chakrathazhwar Sannithi
ஸ்ரீ சக்கரத்தாழ்வார் சன்னதி
Sudarshana - For Protection
Shrine of the divine weapon Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu. Worshipped for protection against enemies and evil forces. Special abhishekam performed here.
Sri Garuda Sannithi
ஸ்ரீ கருட சன்னதி
Vahana of Vishnu
Shrine of Garuda, the divine eagle vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Garuda is shown in anjali (prayer) posture facing the main deity. Worshipped for removing obstacles.
Sri Nammazhwar Sannithi
ஸ்ரீ நம்மாழ்வார் சன்னதி
Greatest Azhwar
Shrine dedicated to Nammazhwar, the greatest of the 12 Azhwars. He composed 1,102 verses (Thiruvaimozhi) which form the essence of Vaishnavite philosophy. Born in Alwarthirunagari.
Sri Ramanujar Sannithi
ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜர் சன்னதி
Great Acharya
The great Vaishnavite saint who spent his final 40 years in Srirangam. Reformed temple administration and established the Vishishtadvaita philosophy. His body is preserved here in a seated posture.

Bow and pray at each gopuram (tower) as you enter. Touch the threshold with reverence.

Walk clockwise around each shrine. Keep the deity on your right. Minimum 1, ideal 3 rounds.

Join palms (Anjali), bow your head. Focus on the deity. Don't rush. Absorb the divine energy.

Collect Prasadam

Visit prasadam counter near exit. Puliyodarai, Pongal, Payasam available.
Location: Near temple exit, multiple counters
Tip: Prasadam packets available for take-home
Temple Theertham
கோயில் தீர்த்தம்
Collect holy water from designated theertham distribution points.
Location: Inside temple, near main shrine exit
Tip: Carry a small bottle for theertham
Visit Temple Tank
தெப்பக்குளம்
Chandrapushkarini - the temple tank. Sacred for Theppam (float) festival.
Location: 4th Prakaram, East side
Tip: Best photo spot during evenings
Temple Museum
கோயில் அருங்காட்சியகம்
Ancient artifacts, inscriptions, temple history exhibits.
Location: Near 3rd Prakaram
Tip: Open 9 AM - 5 PM, small entry fee
