About Srirangam Temple
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, also known as Thiruvaranga Tirupati, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a reclining form of Lord Vishnu. Located in Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, it is one of the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India.
The temple complex is the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world, covering an area of 156 acres with a perimeter of 4,116 meters. It has 7 prakarams (enclosures), 21 gopurams (towers), and numerous shrines.
It is the first and foremost among the 108 Divya Desams (holy abodes of Vishnu) and is also considered the most important of the 8 Swayam Vyakta Kshetras (self-manifested shrines of Vishnu).
