What is Vishwaroopa Darshan?
Vishwaroopa Darshan (விஸ்வரூப தரிசனம்) is the first and most auspicious darshan of the day at Srirangam temple. "Vishwaroopa" means "cosmic form" - referring to Lord Vishnu's universal form that encompasses all of creation.
This early morning seva takes place just after the temple opens, before the regular darshan queues begin. Devotees get an intimate, unhurried experience to worship Lord Ranganatha while sacred Vedic hymns are chanted.
Sacred Animal Ritual
A unique feature of Srirangam's Vishwaroopa Darshan is the sacred ritual involving the temple's animals. When the sanctum doors open at dawn, Lord Ranganatha's first sight is considered highly auspicious.
Andal & Lakshmi
ஆண்டாள் & லக்ஷ்மி
2 Temple Elephants - Andal (senior), Lakshmi (active)
Gomata
நாட்டு காராம் பசு
Native black cow - rear faces Lord
Adalma

White Horse - offers pranam
When the doors open, Lord Ranganatha first sees the cow's rear (Gomata Prishtam) and the elephant's head - both considered extremely auspicious in Hindu tradition.
