About Sri Ranganathar (Moolavar)
Sri Ranganathaswamy is the Moolavar (main deity) of this temple, reclining on the serpent Adisesha. The deity faces south, which is considered highly auspicious. The Pranavakara Vimanam (Om-shaped tower) above the sanctum is unique to this temple. All 12 Azhwars have sung the glory of this deity.
